28-Year-Old Ocean County Man Dies After Boat Crash at Jersey Shore
As the Memorial Day holiday was coming to an end, a boat accident in Barnegat Bay claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.
According to the New Jersey State Police, Gunnar Pearson of Barnegat was rushed to a hospital but passed away from his injuries in the collision.
The crash happened in the bay off 63rd Street in Long Beach Township on Monday, May 25, at approximately 5:45 p.m.
According to state police, Pearson was one of six persons hurt when their boat collided with a day marker, an unlit nautical marking. According to state police, five people were listed in critical condition at a hospital on Monday night, while four others had minor injuries.The condition of the other hospitalized boater and the existence of any tickets or charges were not disclosed.
The crash is still under investigation.
