7 People Shot in Late‑Night Mass Shooting; NJ Police Investigating Possible Shootout

Police are investigating after seven people were hurt, two critically, in a late-night shooting in Trenton, New Jersey.

TRENTON, N.J. — A major shooting investigation is underway after seven people were shot, including two teenagers, during a violent late‑night incident in Trenton on Tuesday, according to 6ABC Action News.

Police responded around 10:30 p.m. to the area of Centre and Furman Streets, near Route 1, after a ShotSpotter alert detected a barrage of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds scattered across a large area.

Police are investigating after seven people were hurt, two critically, in a late-night shooting in Trenton, New Jersey.

Victims Range From Teens to Adults

Authorities confirmed the victims include:

  • Two teenagers
  • A 20‑year‑old
  • A 24‑year‑old
  • A 29‑year‑old
  • A 30‑year‑old
  • A 36‑year‑old

Two victims are in critical condition, while the remaining five are being treated at Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

Massive Crime Scene With Dozens of Shell Casings

Detectives worked through the night, marking evidence across multiple blocks. At least 35 shell casings were found on the ground, along with a child’s backpack and sneakers left behind near the scene. A car and an SUV were also struck by gunfire, both with shattered rear windows.

Chopper 6 footage showed investigators circling several clusters of evidence, suggesting the possibility of multiple shooters or a shootout, though police have not yet confirmed the motive.

Investigation Expands Across Multiple Streets

Evidence markers stretched from Centre Street to Furman Street, with officers documenting several impact points and shell casing clusters. The Mercer County Shooting Response Team is leading the investigation.

Mayor to Address Public

Trenton Mayor Reed Gusciora is expected to hold a press conference at noon to provide updates and address community concerns.
