To suggest that these competitions are difficult is an understatement. Students have 50 minutes to answer 25 difficult questions. To gain points, each question must be open-ended; fractions must be reduced; and all unit labels must be specific and correct. (Obviously, you don't belong in this competition if you don't understand what all of that means.)
North Dover Elementary School and the district are exceedingly thrilled to announce that the NDE fourth-grade team won first place in the Ocean County Math League Competition with the help of GT interventionist Dawn Gawalis.
Massimo Raineri, Harrison Yannariello, Franky Hanson, Alexander Koppenhaver, and Devansh Gupta were on the winning team, with Devansh Gupta taking first place in Ocean County for grade four, receiving an incredible 23 out of 25 possible points.
The squad was acknowledged for their great achievement during the May 18 public school board meeting. NDE Supervisor Dina O'Donnell stated, "We are extremely pleased of your efforts and can't wait to see how you employ your mathematical ability in the future."
