Halloween parade is held on Halloween, hence Toms River's trick-or-treating is customarily held on October 30. On Monday, October 31,
Toms River Volunteer Fire Company 1 will host their annual parade.
Toms River Mayor Maurice Hill stated that the decision was reached jointly by the Township, the Toms River Fire Companies, and the Toms River Police Department. "We want kids to enjoy the long-standing Halloween custom of trick-or-treating while also attending the parade with their families."
According to Police Chief Mitch Little, it's crucial for parents and drivers to follow a few safety precautions while trick-or-treating.
Drivers should stay alert and exercise additional caution on October 30. Be on the lookout for excited children who might be wearing masks and dashing into traffic. Additionally, the Police Chief advises parents to walk with their small children, always carry a flashlight for security, stay on the sidewalk or as close to the curb as possible, and only enter homes with lit porches.
Although Toms River does not have a formal curfew, Police Chief Little says that all trick-or-treaters will be required to leave the township's streets by 9 p.m.
