Jersey Shore Swimmer in Distress
The lifesaving water rescue that saved a Jersey Shore swimmer over the weekend was credited to two good samaritans, according to authorities.
Zeke Orzech and Steve Markel were recognized by the
Stone Harbor Volunteer Company for the successful Saturday morning operation in a Facebook post.
Around 10:30 a.m., a bystander alerted firemen at the station that a swimmer at the 102nd Street beach was in trouble.
Orzech and Markel were already assisting the victim when Stone Harbor units and a Stone Harbor police officer were dispatched and entered the water, according to fire authorities.
Firefighters Eric Staeger and Lou Donofrio III brought the victim to shore, and he or she was then taken to Cape Regional Medical Center at Cape May Court House.
