Earthquake Rattles Several Areas in NJ
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a minor earthquake that allegedly startled many out of bed in Queens, New York early on Tuesday morning, January 2, was also felt in numerous regions of northern New Jersey.
People in the counties of Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, and Union reported feeling Tuesday's 1.7 magnitude earthquake, which was located close to Astoria, Queens, New York.
The slight earthquake struck at approximately 5:45 a.m., according to
ABC7 New York, "jolting residents awake in Roosevelt Island and Queens and knocking out power" to certain areas of the city.
According to residents of New Jersey, the earthquake's intensity fell between a 2 and a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.
