Forecast: New Jersey Braces for Snow and Arctic Wind

According to the most recent forecast, New Jersey will experience winter-like temperatures and some of the season's first snowfall due to a shift in the jet stream.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday was the coldest day of the season marking the end of New Jersey's growing season.

According to National Weather Service forecasters, the air will warm during the weekend until a cold front moves through on Sunday night, bringing the temperature down to a more comfortable level.
AccuWeather forecasts predict that from Sunday night through Tuesday morning, cold air will spread over eastern states due to a dip in the jet stream. Arctic air will also reach New Jersey via a Canadian Alberta clipper.

"Passing upper level disturbance(s) may bring spotty showers, or even flurries where it gets cold enough fast enough, but significant precip is not expected Monday into Monday evening," according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters warned that it will grow considerably colder overnight on Monday and Tuesday, with subfreezing temperatures barely rising into the 40s on Tuesday.

The National Weather Service states that a rain or a flurry is likely, especially in places of higher elevation, but cold winds up to 30 mph are the big issue here.

Things will thereafter slightly warm up.
"One or more cold fronts will try to move southward into the area on Wednesday and Thursday, but they appear to be devoid of moisture and support, so little or no precipitation is probable. Overnight lows are above freezing, with highs rising to the 50s, according to the National Weather Service. Check the latest forecast.
