Ocean County Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charge Following Dog’s Death

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — A 40-year-old Manahawkin man has been charged with third-degree animal cruelty in connection with the death of his dog, according to the Stafford Township Police Department.

Police were called to a residence on July 24 after receiving a report about a pet dog that had died.

According to investigators, Christopher Cook kicked the dog once, and the animal died shortly afterward.

Following a further investigation, police charged Cook with third-degree animal cruelty on Aug. 20.

Cook turned himself in to the Ocean County Jail on Aug. 22, police said.

He was processed and released while awaiting further court proceedings.
