8-Year-Old Girl from NJ Suffers Skull Fracture from Rock Thrown at School Bus Window
A rock was thrown at the window of an 8-year-old girl's school bus at an Orthodox Jewish school in North Jersey on Wednesday, fracturing her skull, according to officials.
Around 2:00 p.m., third graders at Yeshivat Noam in Paramus were returning from a field trip to Liberty Science Center in Jersey City when the bus was struck, according to a school representative on Thursday.
According to
NJ State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, the bus was heading north in the right lane close to Teaneck's Exit 70A/B.
"An unidentified individual threw a rock at the vehicle, shattering a window, as the bus was exiting the New Jersey Turnpike at Teaneck Road," the school stated in a statement. "One student is undergoing medical care after suffering a fractured head."
According to a Yeshiva World story, the rock was baseball-sized.
Now a $5,000 reward is being offered by Teaneck Mayor Mark Schwartz and his Deputy Mayor Elie Katz to find out who threw a rock at the school bus causing this tragedy to happen.
Elie Y. Katz, the deputy mayor of Teaneck, posted on social media, saying, "Your dash cam video could be worth money$$. A baseball-sized rock struck a school bus on Wednesday between 1:30 and 2:15 p.m. on Rt. 95 North, right before it turned into the Teaneck exit. A third-grader suffered a severe skull fracture.
"Thousands of cars and trucks travel this roadway every day," he observed. Your automobile or dash cam may provide useful data.
He stated that anonymous tips are appreciated and that the state police are seeking tips at
732-441-4500, extension 1401.
According to Katz, the cash come from the personal accounts of both politicians.
Yeshivat Noam's head of school, Rabbi Chaim Hagler, announced on Thursday that counselors were available to assist staff and students.
He stated, "Our focus remains on helping the injured student and her family, as well as protecting the emotional wellness of our whole school community." "To guarantee a comprehensive investigation, we are collaborating closely with law enforcement."
