Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash Investigation On Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, at 0752 hours, the Lacey Township Police Department, including members from Lanoka Harbor EMS and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics, responded to the intersection of Lake Barnegat Drive North and Haines Street for a report of a vehicle that drove through a residential fence and collided into a tree. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver, Eric Olesen, 39, of Forked River, deceased.

Elderly Woman Killed While Crossing Street in Monmouth County

Authorities confirmed on Friday that a 72-year-old woman died Tuesday night after being struck by a car while crossing Route 9 in Manalapan.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Deborah Ross of Manalapan was struck just before 11 p.m. on Route 9 south around 355 Route 9 and Russell Court.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Ross was struck by a man in a 2018 Nissan Frontier who was traveling south on Route 9 in the left lane.

According to officials, she was thrown into the right shoulder of the road by the accident and was declared deceased at 11:26 p.m. According to officials, the driver remained at the site. According to the prosecutor's office, neither charges nor summonses have been filed.
Investigations are being conducted by the Manalapan Police Department, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
