Power Outage Affects Hundreds in Brick Township
More than 1,300 homes and businesses in Brick Township lost power on Monday night due to an equipment malfunction, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.
According to JCP&L spokesperson Chris Hoenig, the problem occurred with a lightning arrester. According to him, a lightning arrester shields the system from surges brought on by lightning strikes during inclement weather.
As of 7:30 p.m., approximately 775 customers in the southern part of Brick were still without power due to the original outage, according to Hoenig.
According to JCP&L, power was restored to the remaining consumers by 9 p.m. on Monday evening.
