Teen Driver Caught on Video After Deadly Hit-and-Run in Ocean County

When Ryan Haskell looked outside his Brick home after hearing screams on Tuesday morning, he discovered two teenagers who were classmates at Brick Memorial High School and a smashed BMW.

He began using his cell phone to record.

He stepped outside. Regarding the driver, Haskell remarked, "I asked him what happened, and he was telling me he hit a pole."

Haskell was unaware that he had just seen the aftermath of a collision on Lanes Mill Road that killed a freshman student who was riding a bicycle a few blocks away.
The driver is accused by the police of intentionally leaving the scene of a fatal car accident. They claim that when the BMW hit the classmate in a crosswalk, the driver was traveling north on Lanes Mill Road.

Since both the driver and the victim are under the age of 18, police have not made their names public.

Later, while out for a stroll, Haskell, an 18-year-old senior, discovered further details about the collision.

He observed police and EMS as he arrived at the crash scene, which was a few blocks from his house and the school.

Haskell remarked, "I thought it was just maybe for the pole he hit."

Then he observed a body wrapped in a sheet, which he described as an agonizing sight.

He paused emotionally and replied, "It hurt."

Later on, Haskell discovered that he was acquainted with the victim. He had eaten lunch with him. "It was terrible.I spoke with him. A gofundme has been set up for the family.

He approached a policeman at the scene of the collision, told him where the automobile was, and gave him the footage. In the end, he accompanied the police, made a statement, and handed them the video.

The area in front of their house at Rhode Island and Pennsylvania avenues quickly turned into a murder scene, according to Haskell and his mother, Jodi Haskell.

The driver was taken into custody by the police, who then provided him with medical care before towing the vehicle away, according to the statement.
