Woman and Two Young Children Run Over by 18‑Wheeler in Jersey City; Terrifying Video Sparks Outrage

JERSEY CITY, NJ — June 12, 2026 — A horrifying scene unfolded Wednesday morning when a woman and two young children were run over by an 18‑wheeler in broad daylight near the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Wilkinson Avenue in Jersey City. The violent impact, captured on video, has shaken the community and prompted an urgent investigation by local authorities.

The Moment of Impact Caught on Video

According to multiple reports, the tractor‑trailer had been stopped mid‑block when the traffic light changed. As a woman and two children began crossing in front of the truck, the vehicle suddenly inched forward and struck all three, pinning them underneath.

The dramatic footage shows the trio stepping off the sidewalk and into the roadway just seconds before the truck accelerated. Witnesses described the moment as “the kind of scream that makes you stand up,” referring to the crossing guard who watched the victims get run over.

One witness told CBS News she saw the mother rise to her feet with blood in her hair, clutching her screaming daughter, while the young boy remained trapped in the truck’s tire.

Victims Rushed to Hospital

Emergency responders transported all three victims to a nearby hospital. As of now, their conditions have not been publicly released, and their identities remain undisclosed.

The truck driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Crossing Guard Was on Duty

City officials confirmed that a crossing guard was actively assisting pedestrians at the time of the crash. The guard’s screams were among the first alerts that something had gone terribly wrong.

Mayor Calls Incident a “Heartbreaking Tragedy”

Jersey City Mayor James Solomon issued a statement expressing deep sorrow for the victims and their family.

“This is a heartbreaking tragedy and my thoughts are with the family and everyone impacted by this incident. As a father, I am heartbroken.”

Investigation Ongoing

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the truck’s movement and whether any charges will be filed. Officials have not yet released additional details about the driver or the cause of the crash.
