Severe Storm Causes Roof Collapse at New Jersey BJ’s

A portion of the roof at a BJ’s Wholesale Club in Monmouth County collapsed Monday afternoon as powerful thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing torrential rain and flash flooding.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, according to a Facebook update from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.

Authorities also advised motorists and residents to avoid Route 35 in Ocean Township because of significant flooding caused by the storms.

Video recorded inside the warehouse shows a large section of the roof crashing down as water poured into the building, flooding several aisles.

Surveillance footage from the store captured the dramatic moment the roof collapsed in the bakery department. The video shows at least three people standing only a few feet away from the area where the roof gave way, narrowly avoiding the falling debris.
