Air Quality Alert Issued as Wildfire Smoke Drifts Into New Jersey

Wildfire smoke drifting across New Jersey on Thursday prompted air quality alerts across the state as residents also faced lingering heat and the potential for isolated thunderstorms.

Although temperatures are expected to be slightly lower than Wednesday's highs, the National Weather Service said conditions will remain unseasonably warm. Forecasters warned that wildfire smoke will mix down to ground level, worsening air quality, while a few strong thunderstorms could develop later in the day.
