Overturned Tractor Trailer Crushes Two NJ Women to Death
Two women were killed Tuesday morning when a tractor-trailer overturned onto their car along a busy North Jersey highway, authorities said.
The crash happened around 9:08 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-78 in Newark near milepost 56.8, according to New Jersey State Police.
Investigators said a Mack tractor-trailer was traveling east when the driver encountered a Chevrolet sedan that had stopped for traffic in the left lane. The truck driver attempted to swerve to avoid the vehicle but lost control, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn onto the Chevrolet.
The car’s driver, Ayesha Wright, and passenger, 25-year-old Kendra Rouse, both Newark residents, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
