Dog Park in Toms River
Soon, the township will have a brand-new area where dogs can play and run around.
The first township-built dog park in Toms River will be located at Silverton Park and will cost $240,235 to construct by Vulcan Construction which is based in Cookstown. With a walking path and vinyl fencing that ranges in height from 4 to 10 feet, the park will be enclosed. It will also have a pet waste disposal area.
Additionally, there will be benches where dog owners may watch over their canine pals. Near the dog park, more parking places will be made available for people with impairments.
There will be new landscaping, recycling bins, and garbage containers. Once all contracts have been finalized, building of the park will be finished in no more than 60 days, according to Robert J. Chankalian, Township Engineer. This includes preparing the land for the dog park by clearing it.
According to township authorities, the dog park will be towards the back of the Silverton Park site. Maine Street is where Silverton Park is situated. The township engaged the same business, Vulcan Construction, to restore Ortley Beach's damaged beaches this spring.
According to township code, all dogs using the park will need to obtain licenses, according to township administrator Lou Amoruso.
