New Jersey state police have taken a man into custody who is accused of trying to abduct a child in Cumberland County on Sunday.

According to the New Jersey State Police, The male suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody.

A man suspected of trying to abduct a child in Cumberland County on Sunday has been taken into custody by New Jersey state police and charged.

According to the police, Thomas Cannon, 79, of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, is accused with endangering the welfare of a child on one count.

Police have released a video that shows Cannon entering and exiting the Maurice River Wawa, which is located on the 3900 block of Route 47.

While the two were in the restroom, the man allegedly offered a 7-year-old boy chocolates to take with him.

When the child refused, the suspect allegedly grabbed the boy's arm and tried to take him from the store.

The victim managed to get away and rush to his mother, who was in another restroom.

Cannon was observed leaving in a white Toyota 4Runner.
