According to Toms River Police Department, a significant accident involving two garbage trucks from private trash carrying businesses resulted in serious injuries.
According to Jillian Messina, a public relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, Michael Oese, 51, was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center following the collision that occurred on Route 9 near the intersection with Church Road at around 1:45 p.m. on August 26.
On Lakewood Road, Oese was operating a garbage truck and was following another one when the latter slowed down for traffic, according to Messina. Oese informed authorities that the sloppy road prevented him from swerving onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the first truck, she added.
Oese was trapped in his truck by the collision, and the Toms River Fire Company had to free him, according to Messina.
She stated that no other injuries had been reported.
