Airborne Vehicle Crash Leads to DWI Charge for NJ Teen

After a car veered off Route 17 and collided with the second floor of a building in Mahwah, a 17-year-old driver was charged with driving while drunk, according to police.

According to police, the collision happened shortly after midnight on June 28 when an officer saw the northbound car on Route 17 lose control close to the West Ramapo Avenue off-ramp.

According to authorities, the car drove off the road, went airborne, and collided with the second story of a structure on West Ramapo Avenue.

The 17-year-old driver was detained and accused of driving under the influence after an investigation. The teenager was released to a guardian after receiving several motor vehicle summonses, according to the police.
