State Police Seeking Public’s Assistance with Arson Investigation

NJ State Police are looking for help in an arson investigation.

The Criminal Investigation Office of New Jersey State Police Troop "D" is requesting public assistance with an arson investigation that happened on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County.

Troopers responded to a complaint of a fire near milepost 91 in Brick Township on Wednesday, January 19 at approximately 5:00 p.m. Detectives determined that the fire was started by many individuals, likely juveniles, within a drainage culvert that runs beneath the Garden State Parkway from the 91 north entrance ramp to the 91 south exit ramp, based on the preliminary investigation.

The suspects were spotted running into the Evergreen Woods Park Apartment Complex, which runs parallel to the Garden State Parkway, after igniting the fire in the culvert entrance on the south side.

The Garden State Parkway was closed to all traffic between Wall Township and Lakewood Township for several hours as a result of the fire.

Anyone with information about the incident, the events preceding up to it, or anything else that could help the investigation should call the Troop "D" Criminal Investigation Office - Holmdel Station at 732-441-4576 or 732-441-4550.
