WANTED: Inmate Edward Berbon
The New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) informed the Mount Laurel Police on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, that one of its prisoners had escaped while on duty in Mount Laurel Township. Edward Berbon, the prisoner, was living in a halfway house at the time.
Since 2005, Mr. Berbon had been detained for attempted murder; his release date was set for February 12, 2024.
If you reside in Burlington County or any of the surrounding counties, including Ocean, Monmouth, Mercer, Camden, or Atlantic you should be aware. Edward Berbon is described as approximately 6’00” and 250 lbs. with blue eyes and brown/gray hair.
Police is seeking the publics assistance. and to phone phone 911 if you see the man. Call the Fugitive Unit of the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJDOC) at 1-800-523-3829 if you have any pertinent information.
It was not immediately known when Berbon might have escaped or where he might have been employed in Mount Laurel. At around 4:30 p.m., township police informed the public of his escape.
