Updated Snow Totals for Jersey Shore 2022 Nor’Easter

Toms River Get Ready for Some Snow

The forecasted snowfall totals for a fierce winter storm expected to hit New Jersey starting Friday evening have been increased to up to 18 inches along the Jersey Shore with a band of 6 to 8 inches along the I-95 corridor that includes the densely populated northeastern counties near New York City.

The National Weather Service on Thursday afternoon issued winter storm warnings - an upgrade from earlier watches - for the five counties along the Jersey Shore that now could see 12 to 18 inches of snow, a boost from earlier forecasts that capped snowfall projections at a foot.

The warning is in effect for Atlantic, Cape May, eastern Burlington, Monmouth, and Ocean counties from 7 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday. Winds of up to 50 mph are also expected in certain locations, according to the meteorological agency.

"A major winter storm is forecast to hit the region late Friday and into Saturday. The weather service predicts "heavy snow, severe gusts, tidal floods, and cold wind chills."

Wind gusts of 35-50 mph are expected Saturday night, accompanied with tidal flooding and wind chills "far below" zero, according to projections. "Heavy snow mixed with strong gusts may produce blowing and drifting of snow, as well as extremely reduced visibility, especially near the beaches," the weather agency warned on Twitter.

According to StormTeam4NY, the following is an updated snow total forecast for this weekend:

A 12-18 inch band was added for coastal Ocean County, NJ. In NYC,  still looking at 6 inches, give or take. Expect more adjustments until the storm develops on Friday evening, as the forecast is still uncertain.
