Brick Police Street Crimes Unit Makes Multiple Drug Busts

Drug Busts in January

The Brick Township Police Department announced various drug-related charges during the month of January in an effort to prevent the sale and trafficking of drugs in the community.

On 1/24/22, detectives from the Street Crimes Unit saw a vehicle speeding and failing to maintain its lane of travel on Drum Point Road and Brick Boulevard. At 538 Brick Blvd., detectives conducted a traffic stop (Burger King). During the traffic stop, detectives saw heroin in plain sight.

Heroin, hypodermic syringes, Clonazepam, prescription legend pills, and drug paraphernalia were discovered during a check of the car. Marlena Martinez, 42, of Lakewood, was charged with heroin possession, drug paraphernalia, hypodermic syringe possession, clonazepam possession, possession of a prescription legend medication without a prescription, negligent driving, and possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a motor vehicle.

Manny Martinez, a 40-year-old Lakewood resident, was charged with heroin possession, drug paraphernalia possession, and possession of a hypodermic needle. On summons, both subjects were processed and discharged.


On 1/21/22, SCU Detectives spotted a vehicle making many motor vehicle offenses on Rt. 88 and Chambers Bridge Rd. A motor vehicle stop was conducted by SCU. When investigators approached the vehicle, they noticed two of the occupants leaned over scrutinizing a plastic baggie in the center console area. The driver of the vehicle was then seen stuffing the baggie down his pants, according to the detectives.

Keith Morse, 33, of Brick, was arrested and charged with crack cocaine possession, Oxycodone possession, intent to distribute crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia possession, driving while suspended, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.

Tyler Breece, a 24-year-old Brick man, was charged with loitering in order to get a controlled dangerous substance. Morse and Breece were arrested and taken to the Ocean County Jail for processing.


SCU detectives witnessed a driving violation and executed a traffic stop in Yorktown Plaza on January 11, 22. Odeanne Lawes, 33, of New York, raised a commotion by screaming and refusing to obey police orders. Lawes was charged with obstruction and given a summons to appear in court.

SCU Detectives performed a motor vehicle stop on Hooper Avenue near Gloria Ann Smith Drive on January 10, 22. During the investigation, the driver told officers she had heroin in her hands and withdrew roughly ten wax folds wrapped in a rubber band from the front of her pants. Kimberly Sweet, 49, of Brick, was charged with possessing a controlled dangerous substance, possessing controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, and possessing a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle. On a summons, Sweet was processed and released.
