Mother and Child Killed in Three-Vehicle Car Crash
A three-vehicle collision that took place in Freehold Township on July 15, 2022 has claimed the life of an Ocean County woman and her daughter.
An Ocean County mother was killed and her three children were sent to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash that happened on a country road in Freehold Township on July 14, 2022, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office.
The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, and the Freehold Township Police Department all responded to the intersection of Siloam Road and Old Turkey Swamp Road in Freehold Township at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 14. A Ford F350 pickup truck driven by a 53-year-old male resident of Little Egg Harbor Township, a Chrysler Pacifica minivan driven by a 42-year-old female resident of Ocean Township (Ocean County), and a Honda CR-V SUV driven by a 34-year-old male resident of Jackson Township were the three vehicles involved in the collision.
Her 3-year-old child was flown by medical helicopter to Jersey Shore Regional Medical Center, where she was in serious condition, while the minivan's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. On July 17, 2022, 3 year old Lily was taken off life support. The other two passengers in the car, ages 9 and 13, belonged to the deceased woman and were also transported by ambulance to Jersey Shore for treatment of injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening.
According to the preliminary investigation, the pickup truck departed the southbound lane of Siloam Road, struck the involved SUV with a glancing hit, then slammed head-on into the minivan. Both surviving drivers remained at the scene.
The circumstances behind this matter remain under active investigation.
