Two Ocean County Residents Arrested for Shoplifting at Walmart

Stafford Township

The Stafford Township Police Department's Drug Enforcement Unit detained Brittany Koppenjan, 30, of Lacey Township, and Ryan Powell, 36, of Seaside Heights for stealing on Friday, July 15, 2022, at around 6:45 p.m.

The subjects were caught shoplifting a variety of electronics and hiding them in bags. After a brief amount of time, both people were seen leaving Walmart and entering the parking lot while passing the checkout area. The individuals were apprehended by the DEU in the parking lot, and they were then taken into custody.

The subjects were discovered to be in possession of the stolen goods as well as CDS - Heroin when being searched. The subjects' various arrest warrants from the Berkeley Township and Seaside Heights Municipal Courts as well as the Ocean County Sheriff's Department were discovered as they were being processed. They were taken to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of their outstanding warrants pending further appearances in various jurisdictions after being charged with shoplifting and possessing CDS.

Due to the fact that stealing results in the black market sales of stolen goods, which are then utilized to purchase, possess, and sell drugs, shoplifting and drug-related offenses are associated.

The public and the press are reminded that all defendants are deemed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law, and that the Stafford Township Police Department does not disclose photographs of individuals who have been arrested. There won't be any further information made public about this incident.
