Frog Pond Elementary’s Abby Porpora Honored as an Ocean County “Unsung Hero”
Frog Pond Elementary School is celebrating one of its own — Abby Porpora, who was proudly nominated by her teachers and recognized as an Unsung Hero at the annual Unsung Hero Student Recognition Awards held at the RWJ Barnabas Health Arena in Toms River.
This countywide event, sponsored by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ocean County Executive County Superintendent of Schools, and the Ocean County Association of School Administrators, honors students from across Ocean County who have demonstrated exceptional perseverance, resilience, and personal growth. These “Unsung Heroes” are young people who have overcome obstacles, faced challenges head‑on, and made remarkable academic or personal strides — often without seeking recognition.

Despite facing significant challenges at a young age, Abby has continued to set high expectations for herself and consistently works hard to reach her goals. Her teachers describe her as a peer leader, someone other students naturally turn to when they need guidance, encouragement, or a trusted friend.
Her compassion, empathy, and willingness to support others have made a meaningful impact on the school community. Abby’s dedication to personal growth — and her commitment to helping those around her — truly embodies what it means to be an Unsung Hero.
Frog Pond Elementary School staff, along with Abby’s family, proudly joined her at the ceremony as she received her certificate of recognition. Her achievement reflects not only her strength and determination but also the supportive environment fostered by her teachers and school community.
Great job, Abby — your hard work and heart make Frog Pond Elementary a better place!
