Deer Collides With Motorcycle

Frederick Fritz and Phyllis Fritz of Manchester were injured after a deer ran into their Motorcycle, Knocking Them off the Bike

Members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Pasadena Road near the intersection of Mount Misery Road in the Whiting Section of the township at around 1736 hours on Sunday, May 1, 2022, to investigate a single motorcycle crash.

Officers arrived to find a red 2018 Harley Davidson Road Glide sitting on its side in the westbound shoulder of the road. Frederick Fritz, 55, of Manchester, was driving the motorcycle at the time of the accident, and Phyllis Fritz, 53, of Manchester, was in the passenger seat.

Mr. Fritz was riding eastbound on Pasadena Road when a deer suddenly entered the road, striking the motorcycle on its left side, according to the inquiry. Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected as a result of the collision. The motorcycle continued down the road before coming to a complete stop on the westbound side of the road's dirt shoulder. Frederick and Phyllis were then taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by ambulance for treatment.

Whiting Fire Department and Manchester Township EMS assisted at the incident. The cause of the accident was determined to be a deer crossing the road in such a way that Mr. Fritz had no time to react or make any evasive movements before being hit. Ptl. Anderson of the Manchester Township Police Department's Traffic Safety Section is presently investigating the crash.
