According to township police, a fire damaged a plaza that held Cuzzin's Pizzeria and Restaurant, Jay's Food Mart, and Jerry's Dry Cleaner located at 358 Herbertsville Rd in Brick Township.

As a result, firefighters closed Herbertsville Road on Saturday.

The Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety's Assistant Fire Chief Richard Orlando stated that at 4:53 p.m., a caller reported seeing smoke coming from the building.

According to him, the plaza's roof was on fire when the first police officers arrived on the site.

He said, "The fire was pretty extensive." It did race the whole way around the building. The structure is vulnerable. The back walls and ceiling have collapsed."

Herbertsville Road was closed between 19th and 22nd avenues, according to Brick fire authorities.

According to reports, the pizzeria and convenience store employees were both safely outside.

Officials, however, have not commented on if any rescues were necessary or whether any firefighters were hurt during the incident.

Before they could contain the fire, numerous ladder trucks were dousing the business building from above as firefighters from other authorities and nearby towns arrived on the site.
