New Jersey Launches Year-End “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” Traffic Safety Enforcement Campaign

Traffic patrols will be stepped up and there will be sobriety checkpoints statewide as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday campaign, which runs through January 1, 2023.

The crackdown on drunk driving in New Jersey is part of a worldwide campaign to decrease traffic fatalities during the holiday season, when data suggest a higher risk of collisions. The campaign's purpose is to raise awareness about the hazards of drinking and driving through heightened public education and high-visibility policing.

Acting Attorney General Andrew J. Bruck stated, "those who drive while intoxicated will face harsh repercussions." Getting behind the wheel while drunk or high endangers the driver, their passengers, and the general public. Our Christmas traffic safety campaign will assist everyone in having a safe and enjoyable holiday season."

"Driving drunk or high, especially during the hectic holiday travel season, is selfish, hazardous, and illegal," said Eric Heitmann, director of the Division of Highway Traffic Safety.
