Estimated to Be Closed for 9 Months
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority stated that two ramps at Exit 105, one of the popular summer exits on the Garden State Parkway, will close in April for nine months for work.
The exit shutdown was originally scheduled on Monday, but it was postponed.
A contractor will replace the decking, beams, and parapets of three bridges at Departure 105 in Tinton Falls on April 18, closing one southbound exit ramp and one northbound entrance ramp to traffic.
The exit from the southbound inner lanes to eastbound Route 36, as well as the entrance to the northbound inner lanes from westbound Route 36, are both affected.
Many people use the ramp to travel to the beaches in Long Branch, Monmouth Park in Oceanport, and Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.
During the closure, southbound traffic on the inner lanes destined for Route 36 eastbound is urged to take Exit 102 and return to Route 36 via Asbury Avenue, Shafto Road, and Hope Road.
There will be no need to divert southbound traffic in the outer lanes because the ramp will not be closed during this repair.
Traffic entering the northbound Parkway at 105 will be directed to the outer lanes.
These are the first three of five bridges at Exit 105 scheduled to have their decks, beams and parapets replaced under a $17 million contract with Earle Asphalt Co.
Construction on the last of the bridges is scheduled to be completed in the fall 2023.
