Two Teenagers Injured

Two teenagers were injured in an accident involving a car and a dirt bike on March 30, 2022, according to Brick Township Police.

According to authorities, a 14-year-old was driving a 2002 KTM Enduro Four-Stroke Dirt Bike northbound on Lanes Mill Road near Millbrook Road with a 16-year-old passenger when he collided with a white 2016 Acura MDX that was slowing down and about to turn left into Millbrook Road.

Both youngsters were thrown from the dirt bike as a result of the collision.

Following the incident, the 14-year-old dirt bike driver escaped on foot, but was subsequently apprehended by police at his house.

Brick Police were joined at the site by EMS around 8:42 p.m., in addition to Brick Police.

The passenger on the dirt bike, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and treated for unspecified internal injuries. Internal injuries were also sustained by the 14-year-old dirt bike rider.

The Acura's driver, 65-year-old Daniel DeJianne, and his passenger, 65-year-old Diane DeJianne, were unharmed in the collision.

Lanes Mill Road was closed down in both directions and vehicular traffic was detoured for approximately two hours during the investigation, Kelly said. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Brick Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
