Fatal 2-Vehicle Collision in Lakewood Claims 3 Lives, Leaves 2 in Critical Condition

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office , three people were killed and two others were severely hurt in a two-vehicle collision early on Saturday.

No casualties were named by the prosecutor's office on Saturday night.

The collision occurred at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Cedar Bridge Avenue around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the preliminary inquiry, a 2008 Dodge truck was struck in the intersection by a 2009 Honda Accord that was traveling east on Cedar Bridge Avenue when a red traffic signal was in effect. Bradley D. Billhimer, the prosecutor, stated.

According to Billhimer, the Dodge was struck so hard that it toppled over and split in half.

The Accord ran off the road, collided with a metal traffic signal pole, and split in half as a result.

According to Billhimer, the Honda's driver and one passenger perished at the scene of the collision. Three further passengers in the vehicle were sent to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where one of them passed away from their wounds.

The Prosecutors Office also stated the other two Honda passengers are described as having critical injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

According to Billhimer, the Dodge truck driver was transferred to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of minor wounds.

The accident is still under investigation.
