Ocean County Crash Claims High School Student: Victim Identified

Lacey Township High School Student Dies in Tragic Car Accident

As the community struggles to come to terms with the tragic disaster, family members of the three people died and one of the seriously injured passengers have been identified. The accident occurred early on Saturday morning according to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.

According to News12NJ, a student from Lacey Township High School died in tragic car accident over the weekend.

In a letter to the community, Superintendent of Schools Vanessa Pereira said the school district will provide a crisis team for counseling to all those affected.

The District’s Crisis Team has met and stands at the ready to provide counseling and support services for our students, families, and staff who may or will be mourning the loss of our student. These services, in collaboration with the Traumatic Loss Coalition, will be available when students and staff return from the long weekend and will be in place as needed.

According to The Patch, one of those killed in the collision have been identified as 17-year-old Dashaun Witter.

Witter was born in Lakewood and was a student at Lacey Township High School, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up to assist his family with funeral expenses.
