Father Dies Rescuing Daughter Caught in Rip Current
According to the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, they are reminding everyone not to go in the water when there are no lifeguards on duty after this mornings terrible tragedy.
A man lost his life trying to save his daughter from a rip current at Avon-by-the-Sea on Friday morning. Around 8 a.m. on Friday, the girl, who is said to be between the ages of 14 and 15, was swimming at the beach in Avon-by-the-Sea when she suddenly started getting pulled out to sea close to the jetty, according to News 12.
Her 39-year-old father, who was on the beach watching, dove in to save her but ended up having to be pulled out himself.
Also, according to
News12, the girl was reportedly rescued by rescue workers once they arrived on the scene, but her father was nowhere to be seen. The search was aided by additional guards, Jet Ski crews, and helicopters. It was already too late when they finally located the man.
