Man Arrested After DWI Accident That Injures Toms River Mom and Her Son

DWI in NJ

Kevin Christian, 41 of Seaside Heights, NJ

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and Wall Township Police Department, on Thursday, June 8, 32023, a Seaside Heights man has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with what police believe to be an alcohol-related collision that injured a Toms River woman and her son in Monmouth County.

Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago and Wall Township Police Chief Sean O'Halloran made the news. Kevin Christian, 41, has been charged with second- and third-degree aggravated assault in connection with the collision on March 17 in Wall Township.

Christian lost control of his van while traveling south on the Route 18 off-ramp to Route 138 east and collided with a 44-year-old Toms River woman's SUV. Authorities claimed that Christian, the lady, and her 9-year-old son, who had sustained a major head injury, were all transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to the prosecutor's office, the inquiry revealed that Christian had a blood alcohol level that was more than triple the permitted limit at the time of the collision.

The prosecutor claimed that authorities discovered Christian was operating a vehicle when his license was revoked. Christian received summonses for driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, reckless driving, operating a vehicle when his license is suspended, obstructing traffic, and failing to maintain a lane in addition to the criminal accusations.

On Wednesday, June 7, Christian was arrested by Wall Township Police Department with the assistance of members of the Neptune Township Police Department and taken to the Monmouth County jail pending a first appearance and a detention hearing to take place in Monmouth County Superior Court.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have information pertaining to this matter is still being asked to contact MCPO Detective Brian Boryszewski at 800-671-4400 or Wall Township Police Department Capt. Chad Clark or Sgt. Andrew Baldino at 732-449-4500.
