According to Lacey Township Police Department, a plane crash that happened before two in the morning on Sunday is currently being investigated by the FAA and the New Jersey State Police.

As a result of the plane crash, numerous agencies are engaged in controlling an ongoing forest fire in Lacey Township. Dover Road is now closed between Lacey Road and Pinewald Keswick Road. From Lacey Road to Pinewald Keswick Road, Mule Road is also closed. Firefighters will be clearly visible in the vicinity. Avoid these areas at all costs.

Additional road closures are likely throughout the day because of the dense smoke in these locations. At this time, no evacuations are necessary.

According to Ocean County Sheriff's Office, expect strong smell of smoke east of the Garden State Parkway from Stafford thru Lakewood due to large brush fire in Lacey Township.

Updates will be provided on this page as they are available.
