According to PEOPLE.com, in honor of Mother's Day, all 24 of Katie O'Hara's pupils at Hooper Avenue Elementary School celebrated their mothers on Friday.

Each of the students' mothers attended a special Mother's Day Tea Party at the school, where their children surprised them with hand-drawn covers for PEOPLE and essays they wrote about why their mothers should be featured.

"It's truly a special afternoon of magical surprises, emotions, and laughs!" O'Hara stated to PEOPLE.

Each kid was invited to explain in detail what they thought made their mother unique and why they thought she deserved to be chosen "Mother of the Year" in their essays.

"My mom is also a VERY hard working mom. She has to work for two kids, me (Skylar the favorite) and my sister (Madison, sorry - not sorry, Maddy)," writes Skylar Eder.

"My mom is also my best friend and a very good playmate," adds the 4th grader, who says that even though mom Wendy doesn't know how to do a front flip on the trampoline correctly — "I think she is going to hurt herself" — she's still "the ONLY and BEST option."

However, some mothers' cuisine earned better reviews than others. Colin Vukan asserts, "I might not like all of the meals" mom Laurie prepares, but "we need food to live."

He continues, "I do like a lot of the food she makes," later referring to her "delicious meatloaf."

Karis Hartwell awards her mother Jackie's meals a perfect five-star rating as a result of her "Mother Magic."

She continues, "She very rarely messed up on any food, and when I don't like her food, it's not because her food is bad, I'm just a picky eater."

Also according to PEOPLE, further supporting her claim that her mother Kristy is a "5-star cook," Emily Kennedy says that her macaroni and cheese "makes me tear up just because of how good it is."

She continues, "Her angel hair pasta is excellent, but there's always room for improvement. "Sorry mom, but you never put enough seasoning!"

Student Nicholas LaGrossa claims that his mother is "just like Gordon Ramsay" in the kitchen. Additionally, he praises her for being the family's "fisher-woman" and "crazy sports mom."

Nicholas continues, "She does everything for me." "She takes me to a hibachi restaurant and uses her hard-earned money to buy me anything I want."

The compliments for the women's other talents, such as "great party planner" and "great chauffeur," demonstrated how much the mothers are relied upon by these young children.

According to Ms. O'Hara, none of the moms were informed of the assignment prior to attending Friday's exclusive tea gathering.

According to O'Hara, "many moms were moved to tears while listening to their children read their essays." After each essay, the students thanked the mothers for coming to the special event.

Then, using a PEOPLE backdrop that the students had made as "their creative magazine cover," she took pictures of each student and their mother.
