Identification of Victim in Little Egg Harbor Murder-Suicide Case

According to the Ocean County Prosecutors Office, after a break-in and shooting at a residence on Whitemarsh Court, a 49-year-old woman and her dog were discovered dead. The 52-year-old suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot.

In Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, a 49-year-old lady and her dog were discovered dead inside a house on Saturday. Carl Schultz, 52, shot Kim Hoffman in the face, killing her instantly. Carl Schultz also committed suicide.

The victim called 911 to report a probable break-in at her residence, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Authorities were called to a residence on Whitemarsh Court where they discovered the presumed caller, identified locally as Kim Hoffman, dead from what appeared to be a gunshot.

According to law enforcement officials, a dog was also found with a gunshot wound. A man with a gunshot wound, identified as Carl Schultz locally, was discovered. Authorities found that Carl Schultz killed Kim Hoffman and her dog with a single shot before turning the gun on himself. After being taken to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, he passed away from his wounds.

The detectives did not right away determine the shooting's purpose. The suspect has been identified as Ms. Hoffman’s ex-husband, Carl Schulz, Jr., 52, also of Little Egg Harbor Township. Authorities are currently looking into the incident as a possible murder-suicide;
