July 4th Fireworks Show Sparks Fire at Jersey Shore BlueClaws
After the Jersey Shore BlueClaws baseball game in Lakewood, a fire started by a Fourth of July fireworks display, but no injuries were reported, according to officials.
According to BlueClaws spokesman Greg Giombarrese, the shrubbery behind the centerfield wall at ShoreTown Ballpark caught fire in the middle of the fireworks display.
The area where the fireworks display is staged is always cleaned by staff workers after the seventh inning of games, according to him, therefore no spectators were present when the sparks flew.
The team thanked fire officials for “continuing to help make the BlueClaws experience a safe night out for friends and family.”
