Police seeking Monmouth County Man's activities and looking to identify other possible victims.
According to West Long Branch Police, on March 14, 2024, Thomas Watts, 70, of Long Branch, was arrested by West Long Branch Police Department Detective Ryan Buck #112 and Sergeant Jeffrey Hanlon #106 and charged with Stalking and Harassment.
Following several instances in which Watts visited the West Long Branch ShopRite and first left notes and flowers for the 17-year-old victim, an investigation led to Watts's arrest.
According to the investigation, he then followed her in his own car after seeing her from the parking lot. He watched from a distance one day, then followed the victim to the Long Branch High School, where he left more flowers and a menacing letter on her windshield.
As the victim drove home from the school, he then followed her to her residence.
The first reported incident occurred on March 8, 2024 at approximately 10:00 pm.
As a result of an extensive investigation, the suspect was identified. He was operating a 2016 gray Toyota Corolla.
Typically, a defendant’s photo is not released. However, Detectives are seeking additional information about Watts’ activities and looking to identify other possible victims.
