Mysterious Discovery: Hunter Uncovers Human Skull in NJ Forest
Late last week, a hunter in a New Jersey forest discovered a human skull; this discovery prompted detectives to begin the task of identifying the remains.
The skull was discovered on February 23 in Manchester Township's Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, according to New Jersey State Police. Following the finding, troopers were called to an area along Route 70 at around 7 p.m., according to State Police Detective Jeffrey Lebron on Tuesday.
According to the Asbury Park Press on Tuesday, a cadaver dog was brought to the location where the skull was discovered on Monday in order to look for further body parts.
According to the New Jersey State Park Service, the woodland comprises over 38,000 acres and covers the New Jersey Pine Barrens, making it the second-largest forest in the state.
Authorities have not yet disclosed any details about the identify of the remains. There is currently no further information available and the investigation is ongoing.
