New Jersey Braces for Intense Storms After Heatwave

New Jersey Braces for Intense Storms After Heatwave

With widespread temperatures in the 90s for the fourth day in a row, Wednesday is the culmination of New Jersey's May heat wave. It will be hot, windy, and sunny when the day begins. However, from late afternoon through Wednesday evening, we will need to keep an eye out for the development of violent thunderstorms as a powerful cold front moves closer.

The main threat is damaging wind gusts, with storms beginning to develop and move in after 2 PM.

There may be frequent lightning, small hail, destructive gusts, and torrential downpours. We are in for a protracted stretch of unpredictable weather as the heat breaks and that front stops just south of New Jersey.

Thursday will be uncertain due to scattered showers and clouds, with highs only about 60 degrees, which is 30 degrees colder than the previous day. It will be better and dryer on Friday. However, with temperatures just reaching the 50s to begin the Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday appears to be quite rainy, overcast, and chilly. Keep up-to-date with the latest forecast.
