A routine mammogram this summer turned a Hillsborough single mother’s life upside down.

After turning 40, Caitlin Quinoñes went for her first mammogram, but what began as a routine appointment quickly led to additional testing and a biopsy.

On July 31, she received a breast cancer diagnosis and is now preparing for surgery.

Following her diagnosis, a friend of Quinoñes launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the mounting expenses associated with her treatment and recovery.

“I’ve never been someone who likes asking for help. My friends will tell you I’m usually the one trying to help everyone else. But right now, I truly need the help myself,” Quinoñes said.

According to the gofundme, through her work with children with special needs, she brings patience, compassion and unwavering care to the children and families she supports each day.

Her commitment to helping others extends well beyond her career. For the past 13 years, she has volunteered with Girl Scouts, dedicating her time to mentoring and supporting young girls. She has always made it a priority to stay involved in her community and lend a helping hand whenever she can.

She is someone who gives her time, energy and heart freely. Her kindness, generosity and willingness to be there for others have touched the lives of so many people.

And if you know her, you also know she is a HUGE Eagles fan! She loves cheering on her team and sharing that enthusiasm with her family and friends.

Now, after being diagnosed with breast cancer, she is facing a challenging and uncertain road ahead. She will undergo two surgeries—one in September and another after she has had time to recover. Her treatment and recovery will prevent her from working for an extended period of time.

As a single mother, the situation is especially difficult. With limited health coverage, medical bills, everyday household expenses and lost income, the financial pressure on her and her daughter is significant.

This fundraiser was created to help ease some of that burden by assisting with medical expenses and everyday living costs while she focuses on what matters most: healing and being there for her daughter.

If you are able, please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser or simply keeping her and her daughter in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, and every act of kindness can make a difference.
