Cats and Dogs are in need of New Homes

If you are considering adopting a pet, the Ocean County Animal Facilities hope you will consider adoption and assist them in clearing the shelters.

The Clear the Shelters Pet Adoption Campaign began eight years ago as a one-day event. It's now a month-long celebration, and organizers are hoping that a number of animals will find forever homes after a year in which resources have been stretched due to two hoarding instances.

Anyone who adopts a pet in August will receive a free goodie bag full of nutritious treats and toys. The event's focus is an affordable adoption day on Saturday, August 26, with adoption prices cut by half for all pets.

Every adoptable dog and cat has a veterinarian exam, age-appropriate immunizations, is spayed/neutered, and microchipped.

The Southern Ocean County Animal Facility is located at 360 Haywood Road in Manahawkin, and the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility address is 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson.

For more pet adoption information call 732-657-8086 or 609-978-0127, or check out the Ocean County Health Department website.
