Ocean County Man Arrested for Child Porn Possession

Arrest of Ocean County Man for Child Pornography Possession

Edward Lynch, 52, of Toms River

Edward Lynch, 52, of Toms River, was charged with possessing child pornography on August 24, 2023, according to an announcement made by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) had referred this investigation. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit conducted an investigation after receiving cybertips indicating that someone was downloading child pornographic images from the internet. The IP address associated with a Toms River home was found to be the source of the downloads.

Detectives from the Toms River Township Police Department, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit, and the Toms River Township Police Department Emergency Services Unit carried out a court-ordered search warrant on the subject residence on August 24, 2023.

Detectives confiscated numerous electronic devices from the home as a result. More than 1000 photographs of child pornography were found after the devices were forensically examined by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crime Unit. Lynch was the person who downloaded the alleged child pornography, according to further research. Lynch was without incident apprehended at his home and then taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently being held until a detention hearing.
