An Ocean County resident is heading into the weekend as New Jersey’s newest millionaire after hitting the $1,332,204 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot in Thursday night’s drawing. According to the New Jersey Lottery, the lucky ticket matched all five numbers drawn on July 9: 06, 27, 41, 43, and 44, with Bullseye 43 and XTRA 02.
The winning ticket was sold at Country Farms, located at 193 Route 70 West & Whitesville Road in Toms River, a store that has become increasingly known for producing big winners. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
In addition to the jackpot, 44 players matched four out of five balls plus the Bullseye to win $500, and 12 of those players doubled their prize to $1,000 by playing XTRA. The Jersey Cash 5 jackpot has now reset to $150,000 for Friday night’s drawing.
The win sparked a wave of excitement across social media, especially among Ocean County locals who say the region has been unusually lucky lately.
Here’s what residents had to say:
Ocean County has indeed seen a streak of major lottery wins in recent years — something locals now jokingly refer to as the “Ocean County effect.”
