Ocean County Teenager Dies After Climbing into a Dumpster and Being Compressed by Recycling Truck After a Night Out

Kellen Bischoff of Manahawkin

Kellen J. Bischoff, 19

Around 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Kellen Bischoff, 19, of Manahawkin, New Jersey, was discovered dead at the Total Recycling Facility in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.

After attending a college party, the teen drummer for the local band Hellfire was reported missing.
He had attended an off-campus party close to Kutztown University while in town visiting family.

Bischoff was caught on camera early on Saturday morning climbing into a dumpster near a Dollar Tree on Constitution Boulevard. When a garbage truck finally arrived hours later, the bins were unloaded into the back of the vehicle and compacted. Investigators believe the boy died accidentally, and they have not discovered any evidence of wrongdoing.

Bischoff grew up in Manahawkin and graduated from Southern Regional High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and wrestling team.

He most recently attended Full Sail University. He is survived by his parents, twin brother and younger sister.

He was also a drummer in the band Hellfire, which set up a GoFundMe page to help his family with expenses.
