Mayor Paul Kanitra Organized the Performance to Collect Donations to Aid Ukraine and its Refugees in their Battle Against the Russian Invasion

The Point Beach Cares: Concert For Ukraine, a fundraiser event announced by Mayor Paul Kanitra, is now on sale.

Kanitra announced that the event will take place on April 10 at Jenks Club at Jenkinson's Pavilion.

After returning after a week in Poland assisting Ukrainian refugees escaping the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he announced preparations for a charity performance.

Kanitra is dedicated about assisting Ukrainian immigrants, in part because the boardwalk employs a number of young Ukrainian individuals each summer. Because of his family's ties to Poland and Slovakia, the issue has also been personal to him.

According to the event webpage, the "Point Beach Cares: Concert For Ukraine" will feature performances by the Ukrainian Chorus of Dumka of New York, Joe Bonanno and the Godsons, Ed Testa Band, Steve Forbert, Green Secret, Bobby Bandiera and Friends, and more.

The event will take place at Jenks Club, 300 Ocean Ave., Point Pleasant Beach, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets are $60 per person and are available for purchase on the website.

If you are unable to attend the concert, Kanitra has suggested sending monetary donations to the following organizations:

  • The Polish Red Cross, which is providing medical assistance to those who need it;
  • World Central Kitchen, which is providing hot, high-quality meals at all border crossings and refugee centers in Poland and other border countries;
  • Caritas Poland, which has committed to getting 2,000 orphans out of Ukraine;
  • Khalsa Aid International, which provides humanitarian aid all over the world. "We are inspired by the Sikh principle of 'Recognise the whole human race as one, ' " the group's Facebook page says.
