Police Seek Help Identifying Aggravated Assault and Robbery Suspects

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the suspects pictured who assaulted a man and a woman during a robbery in which one of the suspects stabbed a bystander who intervened on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

At approximately 3:27 a.m., the suspects, brandishing knives, confronted the couple in the 100 block of Walnut Street and attempted to rifle through their pockets. A male bystander tried to stop the assault but was stabbed by one of the suspects, who fled eastbound on Walnut Street.

The suspects, described as Hispanic males, wore black clothing and ski masks. One of them is approximately 6-feet tall with facial hair, and the second suspect is around 5’7” with a thin build.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspects’ identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
